OVERVIEW

Dermal fillers, administered correctly.

Dermal fillers are injectable hyaluronic acid gels used to add volume, define contour, soften lines and improve facial proportion without surgery. They are the most commonly performed aesthetic treatment in the world — and also the most commonly performed incorrectly, by practitioners without the anatomical training to understand what they are injecting into and why.

At Op. Dr. Özlem Oymak's practice, all filler treatments are administered by Dr. Oymak herself — a consultant surgeon with eighteen years of experience in facial anatomy. This is not a standard in the UK injectable market, where the majority of filler treatments are performed by nurses, beauticians or non-medically trained practitioners. The distinction matters for two reasons: anatomical precision, and the ability to manage complications including vascular occlusion.

All fillers used are hyaluronic acid only — fully reversible with hyaluronidase. No permanent, semi-permanent or collagen-stimulating fillers are used. Patients are assessed at consultation for facial proportion, volume distribution and the interaction between any planned filler and any surgical procedure they have had or are planning. Filler is not prescribed on request without this assessment.

“Filler is not makeup. It changes the structural proportions of the face. It should be planned, assessed, and placed by someone who understands the anatomy beneath the skin — not just the surface above it.”

Filler treatments are available as a standalone visit or combined with surgical procedures — either at the same appointment for non-surgical areas, or at a follow-up visit once surgical swelling has fully resolved.

TREATMENT AREAS

Every filler treatment available.

All areas below are available in a single session. Multiple areas can be combined at consultation — the treatment plan is built around your facial proportions, not around a menu.

i.

Lip Filler

Volume augmentation, definition of the vermillion border, correction of asymmetry, or restoration of age-related lip deflation. The lip is assessed in proportion to the rest of the face — overfilling relative to facial structure is the most common error in this area and is avoided through a structural approach.

ii.

Cheek Filler

Volumisation of the mid-face to restore age-related volume loss, define the zygomatic arch, or improve the projection of flat or wide cheekbones. Placed at the periosteal level for structural lift — not superficially, which produces the "apple cheek" appearance of poorly placed filler.

iii.

Non-Surgical Nose Filler

Camouflage of a dorsal hump through filler placement above and below it — creating the appearance of a straighter bridge. Correction of minor tip irregularities. Not a substitute for rhinoplasty, but appropriate for patients who want a temporary, reversible assessment of what a straighter bridge would look like before committing to surgery.

iv.

Tear Trough Filler

Correction of the tear trough hollow using fine, low-viscosity filler placed with a cannula at the correct depth. One of the most technically demanding filler areas: incorrect product selection or placement depth produces lumpiness, Tyndall effect or prolonged swelling.

v.

Jawline Filler

Definition and squaring of the jawline through filler placement along the mandibular border, at the angle of the jaw or at the pre-jowl sulcus. Improves the lower face profile and reduces the appearance of early jowling by restoring the clean mandibular line.

vi.

Chin Filler

Projection of a recessed chin — improving facial profile balance — or correction of chin irregularity and asymmetry. Frequently combined with jawline filler for a lower face sculpting approach. Can simulate the result of a chin implant for patients considering surgical augmentation.

vii.

Nasolabial Fold Filler

Softening of the nasolabial fold through precise volume placement lateral to the fold, not within it. Direct injection into the fold produces an unnatural appearance; structural placement addresses the volume deficit that creates the fold in the first place.

viii.

Temple Filler

Restoration of temporal hollow — placed with a cannula at the correct anatomical level to avoid the superficial temporal artery. One of the most impactful rejuvenation treatments in the upper face.

ix.

Marionette Line Filler

Softening of the downward lines from the mouth corners through volume placement in the pre-jowl and lower cheek region. Often combined with jawline filler and chin filler as part of a lower face rejuvenation plan.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why filler administered by a surgeon
is not the same as filler administered by anyone else.

In the UK, there is no legal requirement for any training to administer dermal filler. The following four distinctions define the difference between surgeon-administered filler and the aesthetic clinic standard.

BENEFITS

What physician-administered filler offers.

The benefits of filler are well understood. What is less widely understood is how much the outcome depends on who places it.

i.

Immediate, visible results

Unlike surgical procedures where the result develops over months, filler results are visible within minutes of treatment and fully settled within two to four weeks. Patients leave the appointment able to see the change — subject to the first 24–48 hours of minor swelling.

ii.

No downtime

Filler requires no recovery period. Most patients return to work, social activity and light exercise the same day. Minor bruising is possible and resolves within a few days; significant downtime is not expected from any of the areas treated.

iii.

Fully reversible

All fillers used are hyaluronic acid — the one category that can be completely dissolved with hyaluronidase at any point. This is the single most important product distinction: permanent and semi-permanent fillers carry complications that cannot be reversed.

iv.

Multiple areas in one session

Lip, cheek, nose, tear trough, jawline, chin and temple filler can all be performed in a single 45 to 90-minute session. For patients visiting Bursa for a surgical procedure, additional filler areas can be addressed at the same appointment or at a follow-up visit.

v.

Surgical-level anatomical safety

Filler administered by a consultant surgeon carries a materially lower risk of vascular complication than filler administered by less qualified practitioners — because the injector understands the anatomy and can manage complications immediately if they occur.

vi.

Facial proportion assessment

Treatment is planned as a whole-face intervention — not a list of isolated requests. The result is a facial appearance that is balanced and proportionate rather than a collection of individually treated areas that do not relate to one another.

vii.

Coordinated with surgical planning

For patients planning surgery, filler can be used before to trial a result or after to refine it. The surgical and injectable plan are designed together — not independently — producing a more cohesive overall outcome.

viii.

Cost-effective alongside surgery

Adding filler to a surgical visit eliminates the cost of a separate trip and consultation. Patients who travel to Bursa for rhinoplasty, bichectomy or blepharoplasty frequently add filler at the same visit at a significantly lower per-unit cost than comparable treatment in the UK.

SUITABILITY

Who filler is — and is not — appropriate for.

Filler is assessed individually at consultation — not prescribed on request. The following criteria apply.

You are a suitable candidate if

  • You have a specific, articulable concern — volume loss, contour deficit, asymmetry — that filler can structurally address.
  • You are at least 18 years old, in good general health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have no known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine (used in topical or dental block anaesthesia).
  • You have realistic expectations — filler improves volume and contour; it does not replace surgery where surgery is the appropriate answer, and it does not address skin texture, pigmentation or dynamic wrinkles.
  • You have not had permanent filler in the area previously. Permanent filler precludes safe HA treatment in the same area and requires specialist assessment.

We will not treat if

  • You have an active skin infection, cold sore or inflammatory condition at the treatment site. Treatment in an actively infected or inflamed area is contraindicated.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding. Elective injectable treatments are deferred until after this period.
  • You have had permanent filler in the area and have not disclosed this. Undisclosed permanent filler is one of the most dangerous scenarios in aesthetic practice.
  • The concern you are describing would be better addressed by surgery. Dr. Oymak will advise this honestly — and will not administer filler as a compromise when surgery is the correct answer.
  • You are taking anticoagulants, high-dose aspirin or fish oil supplements and cannot stop these before treatment. Bruising risk is significantly elevated.
HOW IT WORKS

From first contact to treated and home.

Filler can be administered on the same day as consultation — or combined with a surgical procedure already planned.

PRICING

Clear pricing.
Per area, per session.

Filler is priced by treatment area. Multiple areas in one session are each quoted individually — there is no "package" that encourages over-treatment. The volume placed is determined by clinical assessment, not by a preset amount.

No consultation fee charged when filler is performed on the same visit. Treatment added to a surgical visit carries no additional consultation charge. Enquire for a personalised quote.

I had lip filler twice in London from two different nurses. Both times it looked too much. Dr. Oymak used less product than either of them and the result looked more. That tells you something about placement.

I combined tear trough filler with rhinoplasty on the same trip. The tear trough was done after surgery once the swelling settled. Two concerns addressed, one visit, one aftercare relationship. Very efficient.

She told me at consultation that the non-surgical nose filler would work for the hump but that it could not address the tip. That distinction — being clear about what filler can and cannot do — was exactly what I needed.

Cheek and jawline in one session. I was out of the clinic within an hour. By day three the swelling had resolved and the result was exactly as discussed. At six months it still looks natural and proportionate.

The tear trough filler I'd had in London had gone lumpy after three months. She dissolved it, waited, and redid it correctly with a cannula at the right depth. No lumpiness at six months.

I specifically wanted filler done by a surgeon rather than a nurse or beautician. In the UK the price difference for that is enormous. In Bursa the price was lower than a nurse clinic in London and the standard was incomparable.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions about dermal filler answered directly.

What type of filler is used — and why does the product matter?

All filler used is hyaluronic acid (HA) — a substance naturally present in skin tissue, fully reversible with hyaluronidase, and the only category of filler that can be reliably dissolved if correction is needed. Permanent fillers and semi-permanent fillers are not used. HA filler lasts 9–18 months depending on the area treated and the individual's metabolism.

Why does it matter that filler is administered by a surgeon?

In the UK, there is no legal requirement for any training before administering dermal filler. A consultant surgeon injecting filler understands the anatomical layers, danger zones and vessels at risk through surgical dissection experience. In the rare event of vascular occlusion, a surgeon is able to recognise and manage it immediately. Hyaluronidase is carried at every session.

How long does filler last?

Duration varies by area and individual. Lip filler typically lasts 9–12 months. Cheek, jawline and chin filler tends to last 12–18 months. Tear trough filler lasts 12–18 months or longer due to the relatively low movement in the periorbital area. Volume placed, specific product and injection depth also affect longevity.

Can filler be dissolved if I don't like the result?

Yes — completely. Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler rapidly and reliably. Correction of an unwanted result typically requires one or two hyaluronidase sessions. A new treatment plan can be implemented once the dissolved filler has cleared — usually two to four weeks later.

Can I combine filler with a surgical procedure on the same trip?

Yes — and many patients do. Areas not affected by surgery can be treated before or after. Areas affected by surgery should wait until surgical swelling has fully resolved, typically six to twelve weeks post-operatively. Dr. Oymak plans the surgical and injectable timeline together as a single treatment plan rather than two independent decisions.
