Dermal fillers are injectable hyaluronic acid gels used to add volume, define contour, soften lines and improve facial proportion without surgery. They are the most commonly performed aesthetic treatment in the world — and also the most commonly performed incorrectly, by practitioners without the anatomical training to understand what they are injecting into and why.
At Op. Dr. Özlem Oymak's practice, all filler treatments are administered by Dr. Oymak herself — a consultant surgeon with eighteen years of experience in facial anatomy. This is not a standard in the UK injectable market, where the majority of filler treatments are performed by nurses, beauticians or non-medically trained practitioners. The distinction matters for two reasons: anatomical precision, and the ability to manage complications including vascular occlusion.
All fillers used are hyaluronic acid only — fully reversible with hyaluronidase. No permanent, semi-permanent or collagen-stimulating fillers are used. Patients are assessed at consultation for facial proportion, volume distribution and the interaction between any planned filler and any surgical procedure they have had or are planning. Filler is not prescribed on request without this assessment.
“Filler is not makeup. It changes the structural proportions of the face. It should be planned, assessed, and placed by someone who understands the anatomy beneath the skin — not just the surface above it.”
Filler treatments are available as a standalone visit or combined with surgical procedures — either at the same appointment for non-surgical areas, or at a follow-up visit once surgical swelling has fully resolved.
